I had a lot of fun making this giant spool organizer for Design*Sponge - it's super useful for storing all your sewing/creative tools! See the full post here.

Honeycomb Rings

Have you ever played the forbidden word game at a bridal shower? Usually you aren't allowed to say "love" or "wedding" for the whole shower, and if anyone catches you, you have to wear a silly hat until you catch someone else saying a forbidden word. Next shower you plan, try a variation where all guests start with one ring and someone hears you say one of the words, they get your ring. Whoever has the most rings at the end of the shower wins! See Oh Happy Day for instructions on how to make these cute honeycombs rings.

DIY Drink Stirrers & Coasters

I'm excited to finally share a project I've had a lot of fun working on lately: matching drink stirrers and coasters! Both are easy and quick DIYs, but I think the combination of the two looks really sharp! Wouldn't they be fun for your next summer barbecue?

I made the custom coasters using Staples' photo gift website. Usually I see personal photos used on these products, but I thought I'd mix it up and use some modern geometric photos I took while DIY-ing the drink stirrers.

And great news - you can enter to win a $75 gift voucher to make your own custom photo gift from Staples Canada! See more details after the jump!

Majorette Party Hats

Earlier this year I watched Rudolph's Shiny New Year for the first time - overall it was a bit weird and hard to follow, but the opening credit sequence (start watching the link above at the 2:03 mark) was really cute and inspiring. Song of the Sea: Art & Garlands

Ever since I saw it last week, I've been obsessed with the animated film Song of the Sea. It is so beautifully animated, it took my breath away. The story, characters, and soundtrack are just as beautiful and I left the theatre feeling so inspired and full of love and magic. I love that it continues to inspire my ideas for design and craft projects - I just can't get it out of my brain. Please go see it if you haven't already!

Watercolour Garland

When I'm not daydreaming about Song of the Sea, I've been busy apartment hunting and imagining each place furnished with our belongings. To keep track of dreamy DIY projects, furniture, and art I usually pin my inspiration to the Pinterest board I call live.

Watercolour Garland

I recently discovered that Minted has the most amazing selection of art; it's so easy to browse - you can sort by shape, size, style, and colour to find the perfect piece. You can even arrange your favourites into gallery wall style boards! I've named my board above Song of the Sea as a tribute to the film. I loved browsing through all the artists' work and gathering a small collection of art that makes me so happy and inspired.

Watercolour Garland

Once we decide on an apartment and settle in, I can't wait to put a gallery wall together. In the mean time though, I've made this simple garland inspired by my Song of the Sea board on Minted. Click through to see the full instructions.

DIY Anniversary Gifts

It's probably pretty obvious that I love a good theme, so I had a lot of fun brainstorming ideas for the wedding anniversary gifts I put together for this post over on Oh Happy Day. I focused on paper (1 year), wood (5 years), and silver (25 years) but a lot of the traditional anniversary gifts would be pretty fun to do - four years is fruit and flowers, six years is candy ... so many possibilities!

Circus Place Cards

Wrapping with Gift Horse & Co

If you know me, you know that I'm addicted to wrapping paper. Allow me to introduce Gift Horse & Co, a gift wrapping subscription service started by Corinna vanGerwin. I've been a big fan of Corinna's work for a long time (a few years ago when I first saw one of her gift wrapping features in Canadian Living magazine I instantly thought "How do I get that job?!") so when she told me about her newest project I was excited to learn more.

Wrapping with Gift Horse & Co

Last month I received the Christmas box and was so happy to use the supplies to finish up my Christmas gift wrapping. Each box includes wrapping paper (of course) but also coordinating ribbons, tags, and accessories. One of my favourite things about the Christmas box is that I can reuse the leftover paper or supplies at any time of year because, depending on how you style them, they don't have to scream Christmas. That's big in my books!

Wrapping with Gift Horse & Co

I also loved that I could mix and match the supplies with my own collection. I had already wrapped one of my mom's gifts before I received my Gift Horse & Co box but finished wrapping her other two gifts with the new supplies. The first image shows all three gifts wrapped using a mix of my old and new supplies - I really like how they turned out.
